Beta release from Hunch labs: The Hunch ‘Bookmarklet’

We’ve just released a beta feature to make it easier for you to add things you like to Hunch as you browse: The Hunch ‘Bookmarklet’.

First, you add the Bookmarklet as a bookmark to your browser:

Then, with just one click, you can add whatever you're currently viewing to Hunch. A submission form will appear and Hunch will populate name, description, and price fields based on its scan of the page you're viewing.  You can correct any of the info or add tags to further classify the item.

The bookmarklet wizard will pre-populate fields based on its review of the page you're viewing

Once submitted, the item will immediately be available on Hunch in the ‘Serendipity’ topic, a sort of temporary catch-all for cool stuff that users like.

We’re still working on lots of design and infrastructure to provide deeper integration of newly-submitted results, for example via active recommendation feeds. But for now we wanted to go ahead and release the Bookmarklet to allow our Power Users to kick the tires a bit.

Side note: Hunch’s existing ‘Add item’ wizard will continue to be an alternative way to add items, but we hope users will find the Bookmarklet approach even easier and faster. So add it to your toolbar and click away.

If you have any questions or suggestions about the Bookmarklet, you can post in this forum. Enjoy.
