Broken legs and fake IDs
We’ve now had over 3 million Teach Hunch About You (THAY) questions answered. We are awash in data and working feverishly to use it to build better algorithms to ask smarter questions and give better results.
Occasionally we notice interesting aggregate relationships and thought we’d post them here for fun. Here’s one Matt noticed today. It turns out the THAY question that best predicts which console video game a user will like is:

Users who answer Yes are very likely to prefer:
Madden NFL 09
NBA 2K9
MLB 2009
Whereas users who answer No are very likely to prefer:
Little Big Planet
Katamari Damacy
Super Mario Galaxy
World of Goo
Personally, I’ve never broken a bone and vastly prefer Little Big Planet to sports games.
Another interesting one, the 2nd most predictive THAY question for whether you’d be happy working at a startup:

As you might guess, those who answer Maybe…just maybe are very likely to be happy working at a startup, people who answer Nope are very likely to be unhappy working at a startup. So if you have a kid that gets caught buying beer, maybe you’ll feel better imagining he or she might be the next Steve Jobs.
Speaking of Apple, one of the best predictors of whether people agree they should switch to a Mac: whether they like to dance. PC users really are less fun.
