Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales joins Hunch’s Board of Directors
We’re pleased to announce that Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales has joined forces with us. He’ll be on our Board of Directors and will also be an active advisor as we continue to develop the company. Jimmy shares his thoughts about this on his own blog.
We have always considered Wikipedia to be the gold standard to emulate in terms of fostering community involvement and generating substantive content that benefits millions. Internally we even like to think of ourselves as aspiring to be something along the lines of “Wikipedia for decision making.” So we couldn’t be happier to have Jimmy join Hunch and share his talents, vision and depth of experience with us.
Since this is a milestone of sorts, we thought we’d also take this opportunity to review some of the progress Hunch has achieved since our launch last June as a direct result of Hunch’s active and passionate user community:
- Hunch users have created more than 5,500 decisions, added more than 30,000 follow-up questions to those decisions, and contributed more than 50,000 decision outcomes
- Users have answered more than 28 million THAY (”Teach Hunch About You”) questions
- Users have ‘played’ more than 6 million decisions on Hunch
- Hunch had more than 1 million unique visitors to the site in November
Thanks to the entire Hunch community for contributing your knowledge and creativity to Hunch and for the incredible momentum you’ve created. And welcome, Jimmy Wales!
