Preview of new question flow: the “refiner”

We are close to introducing what we think is a big improvement in Hunch’s ‘question flow’ within a topic, and we’d appreciate getting your early feedback.

We call this approach the ‘refiner’.  Rather than a topic leading you through sequential question flow and ending on a result page (as is now the case), the refiner starts with the results page and integrates questions (both topic specific and THAY) on that same page.  As you answer questions, the results will change to reflect your responses.

This approach has a couple of big advantages: 1) it gets users to the ‘payoff’ of results much faster (actually, immediately), and 2) it unifies topic-specific questions and relevant THAYS…which up until now have really been two very different user experiences.

If you’d like to try/test the refiner, click here to turn it on globally, and then play any non yes/no topic, for example Cars, Magazines, or US Colleges.   To turn it off again click here. Two things to note:

1) for now, the refiner only works on non ‘yes/no’ topics.

2) the refiner uses a cookie, so if you change machines you’ll need to enable it again.
